Looking for a clean, modern and affordable studio to rent? Check out ShoopStudios, our new space in the heart of Historic Folsom! This space is ideal for newborn/baby sessions, business/professional portraits, and boudoir sessions. Bring your own props and backdrops or use ours! We offer a variety of backdrops, including an exposed brick wall, as well as newborn props, lighting, a changing room, refreshments, and more. The large skylight in the ceiling provides great natural light as well.
This is also a great space for meeting clients! Whether to review photos or host a consultation, our seating area is comfortable and clean. There is a computer monitor available to use, as well as refreshments for your guests. My own personal branding is kept to a minimum in the studio so that you can market yourself to your clients without distractions.
We offer hourly, half-day and daily rates, as well as weekday and weekend rates.

If you want some serious hands-on learning and would like to see the ins and outs of the business, you can apply to become an intern, second shooter or assistant.
To find out what category you fall into, read on…
Interns – usually students who want to find out if working in photography is the right fit for them. Interns will work with Amber and her team for a short time doing everything from editing, talking to customers, assisting on shoots and prepping equipment and the studio. It’s not the most glamorous job in the industry, but it’s the best place to get your start!
Assistants have some experience, but are hungry for more! They will have good communication and business skills and an interest, if not a little experience, in photography. Assistants will get their hands into editing, studio and equipment prep, assisting on shoots with lighting, working directly with clients before, during and after the shoot and gain a ton of knowledge and experience along the way.
Shooting a wedding is just more fun with two shooters!! I promise all of my couples two photographers to ensure we catch EVERYTHING! A second shooter will be paid per job or per hour and will be expected to have transportation to and from the event, arrive early, have properly working equipment and will know how to use it. Must have good people skills and be in good physical condition. You will be on your feet for at least 8 hours, running around, carrying all of your equipment all while keeping a smile on your face and your eye (and camera) on the lookout for great shots.

Shoop’s Photography is Hiring!
We all need a little help sometimes. To keep up with my growing client list, and continue to offer my personal, high quality service at a small business level, I am looking for some help.
This is not an internship. This is a contracted position for admin work along with some trade for learning (compensation for assisting on live sessions will come in the form of learning and gaining experience).
Applicants must be self-starters, motivated workers, and eager to learn. As a Photography Assistant, you will be involved in the daily work of a photography studio : marketing to clients, data entry, corresponding with clients via email, scheduling appointments / sessions, fulfilling print orders, keeping packaging supplies fully stocked, running personal and business errands, managing client folders, basic image culling, creating blog posts, and learning studio-specific software and tasks.
This position is an office position, not a shooting position. The ideal candidate will want to learn photography as well as the business, and will be asked to assist on actual portrait sessions. We may or may not expand this position to include photography training in the future.
- Professional, friendly demeanor
- Experienced with Google Docs and Apple/MAC computers
- Bonus if experienced in the basics of Photoshop & Bridge
- Must not only be organized, but also have a love for organization
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Knowledgeable of current trends, styles and publications in the wedding industry
- Animal lover! We have dogs, rabbits, lizards…a zoo!
- Personal/administrative assistant experience a big bonus
- Part-Time Position
- Works with Amber at her studio 1-2 days/week
- Ability to work on your own computer at home from time to time
- Occasionally works on weekends to assist sessions
- Position/training to begin Immediately
- Contracted position, $10-$15 per hour based on experience
- 5 hours per week (potential for increased hours during wedding season: April – October)
- Must be available Monday-Friday
