Engaged in San Francisco :: Alice & Kelly

Meet Alice and Kelly, engaged in San Francisco! These sweethearts live in the Bay Area, so their choice of Baker Beach with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background was a perfect fit for them. I always enjoy an adventure so traveling to SF to create this dreamy engagement session felt more like fun than work. Alice and Kelly were so easy to work with, and didn’t even flinch when a nudist (part of Baker Beach is a nude beach) almost photobombed one of their shots! During their session we saw at least 2 weddings, one proposal and countless naked people. Somehow we were able to work around all the chaos and get some great shots!

Enjoy this little peek at our adventure, and look for their Folsom wedding to hit the blog next June. Cheers! (click to enlarge)

Engaged :: Lindsay and Trevor

Lindsay and Trevor are engaged! These two are not just clients, they are also my friends. I am honored that they chose me to be such a big part of their wedding plans. We decided their engagement session would take place in Coloma, California. The whole town is basically a state park, so there is no shortage of amazing backdrops. We had a lot of fun adventuring around the park and goofing off, but also captured some pretty amazing shots, in my humble opinion! I can’t wait for their wedding next year.

Fall Mini-Sessions 2017

It’s time to announce our Fall Mini-Sessions for 2017! The kids are back in school and the holidays will be here before you know it. Our mini-sessions make holiday cards and gifts so easy! And they aren’t just for the family. Want a quick business or senior portrait? A photo of or with your pet(s)? Want to capture that baby bump? It’s your 20 minutes, use it how you please!

Each session is 20 minutes long. While that may not sound like a lot of time, I have been doing this for 10 years now, and I know how to capture variety in a short amount of time. Plus young kids and camera shy adults will appreciate this abbreviated session. The location will be pre-determined and you’ll show up a few minutes before your designated time. 20 minutes later, you’re done! It’s that easy.

Our Fall Mini-Sessions also include an online viewing gallery, select retouching, your 5 favorite hi-res images delivered via digital download with print release, plus specials on prints, gifts and holiday cards! All for just $150.

I’m excited to announce some new locations this year! Check out the dates below:

9/30 – San Francisco (Crissy Field)

10/8 – Tahoe (Incline Village)

10/15 – Folsom/Foothills area

11/11 – Folsom/Foothills area

Exact times and locations TBD. These sessions SELL OUT every year, so if you know which date and location you want, grab it now by paying your retainer HERE. You’ll be contacted soon after to finalize details.

Folsom Engagement Session :: Anneliese + Kyle

Check out this cute Folsom engagement session. Anneliese and Kyle will be married this Fall at The Firehouse in Old Sacramento. I LOVE their venue and can’t wait to capture their special day! These two were so fun to work with and you could just tell they really enjoyed being together. Not everyone is a fan of having their photo taken (aka most of the grooms) but these two were up for the adventure! Anneliese didn’t even mind having the wind blowing through her hair as we were all chauffeured around Historic Folsom in our golf cart by my trusty “assistant” (aka husband). We had so much fun together, as you can see!

Here is a little peek at their engagement session in Historic Folsom. Enjoy! (click to enlarge)

Old Sacramento Engagement :: Lauren + Justin

I am thrilled with Lauren and Justin’s Old Sacramento engagement photos! We could not have had a nicer day, especially after what felt like non-stop rain. And how cute are those pups? They weren’t completely on board with our plans for them to be in some photos, but some treats got their attention and we were able to grab a couple shots. Thanks to my assistants, Ashley and Taylor, we had help with the dogs and the reflector. Since Lauren and Justin are getting married at the Firehouse, we thought Old Sacramento would be a great place for their first photo session together.

We’re Engaged :: R + J in Folsom

“We’re Engaged!” Meet Rochelle and Justin, who are getting married this September at The Firehouse in Old Sacramento. January isn’t always the best time for an engagement session, but we lucked out with some decent weather between these two big storms. We met up at Hinkle Creek Nature Area for our engagement session adventure! It was a good thing these two were both in boots because I took them on quite a hike. It was a little muddy, but well worth it, as you can see!

These two are just adorable!  I think they had a great time even though I asked them to do quite a few PDA’s. We try to keep posing natural but those Pinterest-worthy photographs do not create themselves! I can’t wait for their wedding day this Fall (and I’ll keep us out of the mud this time, promise).

A Marriage Proposal :: Kellen & Kris Engaged!

After 9 years as a professional wedding photographer, I was finally able to shoot a marriage proposal! This is so different than anything else I shoot. I got to feel like a photography ninja; sneaking up the driveway, hiding behind trees, and crawling behind landscaping and furniture to get the perfect shot while remaining unseen. Good job to Kellen for thinking ahead and having this special moment captured for him and his bride-to-be! And in case you couldn’t tell, she said yes!

I look forward to capturing more special memories for these two in future! And if you’re interested in setting up your own sneaky proposal shoot, just shoot me a line and we will get it done!

Grass Valley Engagement Session :: Sanne & David at Empire Mine

Last summer I visited the Empire Mine State Park  in Grass Valley, CA for the first time. It was a family outing with our boys, but the whole time I kept thinking how amazing it would be to do a session here.  Fast forward to last week when a wedding/engagement inquiry comes in and they need their engagement photos done IMMEDIATELY! Luckily I was available, and after a quick meeting with the bride a few days before, we sealed the deal for the engagement and wedding services. When Sanne told me that they had chosen Empire Mine as their engagement session location, I knew I was in for a fun session!

I met up with Sanne & David on a somewhat smoky (from the Foresthill fire) Saturday morning at the park. The smoke was not as bad as I had expected, and did provide a bit of cover from the overhead sun. Sanne & David brought their newest family member along with them; an 8 week old white shepherd, along with some family to help take care of the pup while we adventured around the park. How did our session go? I will let the images speak for themselves…

Engaged in Wine Country :: Adrienne + Joey

One of my favorite ways to spend a Saturday afternoon is tasting (okay drinking) wine. Throw in an adorable couple and my camera and now it’s a party! Meet Adrienne and Joey, engaged to be married this Fall. This was not my first time with these two; Adrienne has been a bridesmaid in two other weddings I photographed (thank you Jessaca and Veronica!). But this time was all about them, which gave us a chance to get to know each other better before their big day.

A&J are from the Bay Area and go wine tasting often (every weekend if it were up to Adrienne), so naturally they chose to capture their engagement photos at some of their favorite wineries. They chose well. We started at Chateau St. Jean, and warmed up by tasting some of their reserve wines (yum!). Then we explored the grounds and ventured into the vineyards, where we found a beautiful old Oak tree to shoot under.

From there, we headed next door to La Rochelle where I drooled all over their Pinots. This winery is so cute, complete with chickens, a koi pond a beautiful barn/tasting room. If there were more hours in the day, I could have sat there until sunset.

Enjoy a little peek at our wine tasting, engagement photography afternoon, and stay tuned for the wedding in November!
