Folsom Lake Sunset :: Shooting for Fun

And now for something completely different…photos without people in them! My love for photography started with nature. From a young age I’ve always had a good eye and a love of travel. This combination resulted in me getting some pretty amazing shots from some beautiful places over the years. But when photography is your job, you don’t always get a chance to shoot for fun. As I was driving home from a portrait session in Coloma last week, the sky was so breathtaking that I raced to one of my favorite locations to capture it. I had all of my gear with me and the timing could not have been better. The images you see here, while they have been slightly enhanced for the internet and print production, are completely natural. I did not add clouds or color. The sky was on fire!

If you like what you see, you can purchase any of these images (and other from my local and international travels) right HERE. Those bottom three images would look AMAZING hanging next to each other on the wall. I recommend having them printed on metal or metallic paper.

Sacramento Summer Wedding :: Sanne & David at The Firehouse

Sacramento Summer weddings can be HOT, but Sanne and David lucked out with double digit temperatures for their June 3rd wedding. The Firehouse courtyard provided some nice shade for guests.  Their brick walls, towering trees and white lights are a perfect backdrop for an evening of love, libations and dancing!

Our afternoon started at The Embassy Suites for some pre-wedding photos of the guys and gals. After a short but sweet ceremony, our photo adventure began with a walk to the Tower Bridge and then to the train station. Now it was time to party! Cover Me Badd kept guests on the dance floor all night with their stellar performance. It was one of those weddings that you just didn’t want to end!

Sanne & David’s special day was made possible with these vendors:

It’s baby season! The perfect reason to have a baby session in the studio. We have lots of prop and backdrop options to keep your baby out of the weather and in a safe, clean environment. This little nugget is just 2 months old and already a flirt! He did so great during his session, only crying a couple of times until we got him perfectly comfortable. We will be doing a full family session soon, to include his other siblings and parents. Until then, enjoy this little peek! (click to enlarge)

Senior Portrait Season :: Graduating Brothers

It’s Senior Portrait Season! These brothers turned 18 in the same week and are graduating next month. We had a great session walking around Historic Folsom and a nearby walking/bike trail. We even got little brother in there for a fun photo idea that their mom came up with. So cute!

Congrats Jeramiah and Logan! And don’t worry, Shamus, your time will come!

Fools for Love :: Johanna & Eric’s April Fools’ Day Wedding

This wedding is not a joke. Meet Johanna and Eric, who chose to say “I do” on April 1, 2017. I heard a rumor that their first date was on April Fools’ Day, and after waiting for the date to fall on a Saturday, they were finally able to plan their perfect wedding. There are so many cool details about this wedding! All of the center pieces and decor came from the couple’s own home. Being a music teacher, Eric has a collection of instruments that seemed to be a central theme throughout the wedding. I love that their DIY wedding was totally original, all the way down to the photo booth! Can we talk about the flowers for a sec? All handmade by Johanna herself! Including her bouquet.  The Firehouse Restaurant served as a simple and elegant backdrop for a beautiful ceremony and evening under the stars. The food was amazing (as always) as was the assortment of house-made desserts. Guests danced the night away to a live band that kept everyone either shaking their booties or holding each other close.

Congratulations Johanna and Eric. I hope you enjoy your sneak peek…and your honeymoon! Cheers!

Business Portraits :: One Day Studio Special

It’s time for new business portraits! Let’s get a fresh look on your website, LinkedIn, Twitter, social media page and business cards.

Not sure if you need a new image? Well, ask yourself these questions:
1. Has the technology or prevailing style changed?
2. Have you changed significantly?
3. Are you rebranding or have a new career?
If you answered ‘yes’ to any of those, it’s probably time to update your professional portraits. You want them to resemble the best version of your current self.

Our Business Portrait day at ShoopStudios on April 4, 2017 makes that easy for you. We have several different backdrops to choose from, including an outdoor/natural look. We will help you choose what will work best for your style/industry, and even give you tips on what to wear. The session is quick; you can do it on your lunch hour and still have time to eat and get back to work! We have times available throughout the day and early evening.

After your session, we will post an online viewing gallery for you to choose your 2 favorite images. They will be retouched and delivered in a format that makes it easy to upload to social media or have published on marketing material. It’s so easy and ONLY $75 per person!
